The liver

The deoxygenated blood containing the MDMA molecules arrives in the liver. The portal vein branches out there into smaller and smaller blood vessels and capillaries which run past the liver cells.

The liver also receives oxygen-rich blood from the heart via the hepatic artery. Later, when the MDMA molecules have spread throughout the body, some of them will also reach the liver via the hepatic artery.
