The alcohol molecules disperse themselves through all the bodily fluids and tissues.
Women have proportionally less body fluid than men. Men’s body weight consists of 72 percent water, whereas women’s weight is only 61 percent water. Men also weigh an average of 80 kilos and women 68 kilos.
This means that when men and women drink equal alcoholic drinks, the alcohol is distributed over 56 litres of water in men and 46 litres in women. In other words, women who drink the same quantities as men have higher concentrations of alcohol in their blood.
