Alcohol

When do you feel the effects of alcohol?

After ingesting alcohol, you start feeling the effects 10 to 15 minutes later.

That is less time than would be expected for a drug that reaches the brain via the stomach, intestines, liver and pulmonary circulation. Normally that route would take over half an hour.

The difference is that some alcohol enters the blood in the stomach, and that is enough to perceive the effects.
