From the liver to the heart

The blood containing the alcohol molecules and metabolites collects in the hepatic vein. This conducts the blood back to the heart. It is pumped into the pulmonary circulation to become oxygenated and to release its carbon dioxide.

When the blood returns to the heart, it is pumped on to the rest of the body via the aorta.
