General 2: From the heart to the liver

From the aorta, part of the oxygen-rich blood containing THC molecules is transported to the liver via the hepatic artery. At the same time, oxygen-depleted blood from the small intestine enters the liver through the portal vein.

Because THC molecules will spread throughout the body in the bloodstream, some molecules will later also reach the liver via the intestines and the portal vein.
