Carbon dioxide release

All our cells and organs need oxygen (O2). It is used to convert nutrients into energy in cells all over the body. Carbon dioxide (CO2) is released during that conversion process and deposited into the bloodstream.

The red blood cells absorb this carbon dioxide and transport it to the lungs, where it is released and exhaled.
