General 5: From the brain back to the heart

The blood has delivered oxygen to the brain cells and has absorbed carbon dioxide. Gradually, it will also pick up the cocaine molecules and take them back to the heart.

The heart will first pump the blood, including the cocaine molecules, through the pulmonary circulation. When the blood returns to the heart, it has absorbed enough oxygen to be pumped through the body via the aorta.
