General 4: The reward system

A brain centre that is particularly stimulated by cocaine is the reward system. Taking cocaine produces a brief exhilarating effect. It increases your endurance and makes you feel like you are bursting with energy.

Many people become more talkative. They feel more self-confident and believe they are thinking more clearly. Cocaine also suppresses your senses of hunger and fatigue. This makes you more susceptible to undernourishment and exhaustion.
