General 9: The heart and its coronary arteries

Cocaine affects your heartbeat. It prods the heart to beat faster and it raises your blood pressure. Due to the increased exertion, the heart needs more oxygen.

It receives its oxygen from the coronary arteries. These deliver oxygen-rich blood to the muscular walls of the heart. They tap off some of the oxygenated blood as the heart pumps it into the aorta.
