Snorting 4: Effects on the nose

When the mucous membranes become damaged, extra production of mucus is triggered. The result is a runny nose, an ailment that plagues many coke snorters. Recurrent nosebleeds and chronic nasal congestion are other consequences of snorting cocaine.

The ability to taste and smell may also become impaired. Through openings in the nasal cavity, cocaine may also penetrate into the sinuses and cause infections there.
