Part of the blood containing amphetamine molecules which leaves the heart via the aorta is pumped to the brain. It diffuses there through the branches of the blood vessels. When you inject speed into a vein, you start experiencing the effects just 15 to 30 seconds later.
Because the drug has entered the bloodstream directly, all the amphetamine molecules arrive in the brain at approximately the same time. This causes a sudden, intense effect called a ‘rush’ or ‘buzz’. The rush that you get from injecting speed is stronger than the high obtained from any other way of taking amphetamine.
However, injecting is also the most hazardous method. It carries the highest risk of addiction, it greatly increases the danger of overdosing, and it makes you vulnerable to infectious diseases such as AIDS and hepatitis.
