The powder dissolves on the mucous membranes of the nose, and the amphetamine molecules thereby come into contact with the capillaries in the nasal membranes. The molecules can easily penetrate the capillary walls and enter the bloodstream.
Not all of the amphetamine molecules are absorbed through the nasal membranes. The others flow into the oesophagus and are carried off to the stomach.
The blood from the nasal membranes is conducted to the heart. It must then be pumped on to the lungs to receive oxygen. When it returns to the heart, it can be pumped via the aorta throughout the body.
