Oral 6: The amphetamine enters the bloodstream

The intestinal villi, the millions of hairlike projections that line the inside of the intestinal wall, greatly increase the surface area of the intestine. They enable food (nutrients) to be absorbed into the bloodstream more efficiently.

The amphetamine molecules penetrate the cell membranes of the villi and enter the blood vessels. The blood carries the molecules away.
