Snorting 12: The amphetamine enters the liver

Oxygenated blood containing the amphetamine molecules arrives in the liver via the aorta and the hepatic artery. This artery branches out there into smaller and smaller blood vessels and capillaries which run past the liver cells.

The liver also receives blood from the intestines via the portal vein. Later, when the amphetamine molecules have spread throughout the body, some of them will also reach the liver via the portal vein.
